Starting school

Choosing a school is a big decision, and the best way to make it is to come and see us for yourself: meet the staff, see the children at work, and get a feel for what an ordinary day at Cwm Primary is really like.

What a visit looks like

  • Get in touchCall or email the office and tell us your child's age, and we'll suggest a good time to come in.
  • Pick a time that suits youVisits usually happen during the school day, so you can see lessons, play and everything in between.
  • See the real thingNo special performance laid on, just an ordinary morning or afternoon at Cwm Primary.
  • Ask us anythingBring your questions, however small. We'd rather you asked now than wondered later.

Good to know

  • Places are allocated under Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council's coordinated admissions scheme, alongside every other school in the county.
  • Moving into the area partway through the year? Contact us directly as well as the council. In-year moves happen throughout the year and we'll support you through it.
  • Every child settles in at their own pace. Toilet training, separation anxiety, shyness: we've supported it all before, and we won't judge you for asking.

If your child may need additional learning support, our ALNCo is happy to talk to you before you apply. See additional learning needs .
